Genre: sick Horror Grinding Death Metal
VHS return with their third album, We're Gonna Need Some Bigger Riffs. With tongue still firmly planted in cheek, this Canadian trio is exploring the murky depths with their latest release. Sea monsters, killer whales, and bloodthirsty creatures make up the majority of the lyrical content, while the usual killer in a mask makes a brief appearance, which should be expected of any sequel!
The album shows the band staying true to their diverse and catchy style, taking elements from death metal, punk and even hair metal throughout the albums 14 tracks.
For fans of Exhumed, Impetigo, Autopsy and Macabre
"VHS has done it once again with We’re Gonna Need Some Bigger Riffs as they offer up yet another heavy yet entirely memorable record. VHS continues to impress and continues to offer up a brand of metal that is entirely unique and incredibly entertaining."-Cadaver Garden
"Truthfully the bands style truly hasn’t evolved much since their earlier output. If anything, it’s been polished some, but thankfully not too much. Grindcore is the audio foundation and still frolics, cavorts and playfully teases a number of other genres to great effect. Punk is front and center also as too is undeniable humor (which could well be called “splatstick” if this were the celluloid equivalent) that’s difficult not to appreciate, obviously this style, and the bands output, would look rather silly without it being present."-CultMetalFlix
"VHS blend death, grind and thrash with a hint of ’80s and a large pinch of humor to create a musical concoction that’s brutal, catchy and entertaining. From 15 second bursts like “Zombie Vs. Shark” to thrashy songs like “Let’s Get Gruesome” to groovier tracks like “Oozing, Bubbling, Black Mass,” they have all the bases covered."-Heavy Music Headquarters
"In 14-tracks with a sub-30 minute runtime, VHS never give themselves an opportunity to wear out their welcome. Songs speed through monstrously, sinking their nasty little teeth into death metal, punk, thrash, and maybe just a hint of hair metal. With Rush out of the game, VHS could make a viable claim for best current power trio in Canada."-Toilet Ov Hell
